An application to trademark the nickname ‘Captain Cool’ under sports services has been submitted by MS Dhoni. However, the first application for the moniker had been filed earlier by a one-person company from Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. The earlier claim has since been placed on hold due to possible opposition raised by Dhoni’s team.According to public records from Intellectual Property India, the trademark was applied for on 5th June 2023 by MS Dhoni under Class 41, which covers services such as sports training, coaching, and training facilities. The application has now been marked as “Accepted and Advertised”, indicating that the first review has been passed and publication in the official journal has occurred. At this stage, an opportunity is given to others to file opposition before final approval is granted. If no opposition is filed, the rights to use the term ‘Captain Cool’ will be officially granted to Dhoni, enabling the launch of sports academies, fitness brands, or training camps under that name in the future.
Gully fielding spot set to be lost by Yashasvi Jaiswal after undergoing a special session with Gautam Gambhir, reports suggest

Yashasvi Jaiswal likely to lose his slip-gully fielding role
Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to be moved out of the fourth slip–gully position after struggling badly in the Headingley Test against England, where he dropped four catches. Alongside some poor bowling, those missed chances were seen as a major reason for India’s loss.
India dropped a total of seven catches during the match at Leeds and ended up losing by five wickets, even though they were in control for much of the game. Jaiswal had the most errors, dropping three catches specifically in the gully-fourth slip area.
To fix the problem, the team management appears to have decided to remove him from that fielding position. During practice on Monday before the Edgbaston Test starting 2 July, Jaiswal wasn’t seen in the slip or gully cordon.
According to reports, Sai Sudharsan and Nitish Kumar Reddy were tried in the fourth slip-gully spot. Karun Nair practiced at first slip, KL Rahul at second, and captain Shubman Gill at third.
Jaiswal, meanwhile, had a focused one-on-one session with head coach Gautam Gambhir and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate. For about 15 minutes, he worked on taking low, sharp catches, hinting he may be asked to field at silly point or short leg during the upcoming match.
This change also suggests all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy might replace Shardul Thakur in the playing XI. Nitish had a strong debut series in Australia, scoring 298 runs with a century and also picking up five wickets.
Shardul struggled at Headingley, managing only five runs and taking two wickets.
There are also signs that Sudharsan will keep his spot at No. 3 in the batting order, despite scoring just 30 on debut.
India’s biggest worry is who will replace Jasprit Bumrah if he is rested in Birmingham. With the team already trailing 1-0 in the series, Bumrah’s workload will have to be managed carefully.
Pacers Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh are in line to play the second Test.
