England winger Noni Madueke has been officially signed by Arsenal from Chelsea for an initial transfer fee of £48.5 million.

The 23-year-old was part of Chelsea’s squad for the Club World Cup in the U.S., but he left the team ahead of their 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the final to complete his move to Arsenal under Mikel Arteta.

A five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium has been finalized with Madueke. On Instagram, Madueke shared his excitement:
Joining this club is met with gratitude and a sense of honour. Appreciation is extended to all who were involved in making this possible. Looking forward to stepping onto the pitch and proving myself. It’s going to be an amazing journey.”

A total of 92 appearances were made for Chelsea by him after being signed from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for £30 million, during which 20 goals were scored. He also played a key role in their UEFA Conference League win last season.

Before moving to the Netherlands, Madueke developed at Crystal Palace and Tottenham’s youth systems. Four and a half years were spent at PSV by him, during which the Dutch Cup was also won.

Madueke made his senior debut for England in August 2024 and assisted Harry Kane’s winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Andorra in a World Cup qualifier managed by Thomas Tuchel.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said:
“Noni is a dynamic and gifted young talent. His recent performances and stats have been top-class. He’s among the best wide attackers in the league.
Even though he’s only 23, he has solid experience at both club and international level, and he’s already familiar with the Premier League. We’re thrilled to bring him in. Significant value will be brought to the squad through his addition

The news of Arsenal targeting the Chelsea winger caused backlash among some fans earlier this month. A petition called #NoToMadueke gained over 5,000 signatures, and graffiti reading “Arteta out” appeared near Emirates Stadium.

Madueke is Arsenal’s fourth signing of the summer and the second player they’ve taken from Chelsea, following the arrival of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Gunners have also secured midfielders Christian Norgaard from Brentford and Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad. In addition, they are close to finalising deals for striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting and defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia.
