Karnataka Government Blames RCB for Stampede Outside Chinnaswamy Stadium

A sealed status report, recently made public by court orders, holds the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team partly responsible for the deadly crowd surge outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which claimed 11 lives. The report highlights that a video featuring cricketer Virat Kohli, posted by RCB on social media, contributed to drawing a massive crowd, leading to the tragic stampede. This was part of a suo motu PIL being heard by a division bench in the High Court. The status report, which was earlier submitted in a sealed cover and has now been made public following the orders of the division bench hearing the suo motu PIL on the stampede incident, also refers to a video clip of cricketer Virat Kohli. This clip was uploaded by the RCB on one of its social media posts and is mentioned as a factor that attracted a large crowd outside the stadium.

According to the Karnataka government, the crowd. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4 exceeded 3 lakh people, including those who arrived by foot, public transport, and private vehicles. The report stated that it was only around 3:14 PM that officials realized the massive size of the crowd.

“The team management has opted to limit Jasprit Bumrah to three of the five Test matches in England, given the cautious approach to managing his workload following his return from back surgery earlier this year. A win in Manchester would secure the series for England, making it impossible for India to stage a comeback. We’re certain he’ll be available for at least one of the remaining two Tests,” said assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate during Thursday’s training session. “With the series finely poised and Manchester being a crucial match, it’s likely we’ll lean toward playing him there.”
